Family memories are precious treasures, often preserved in the stories, traditions, and keepsakes passed down through generations. Among these cherished heirlooms are family recipes — the edible legacies that bring loved ones together and evoke lovely memories of shared meals and moments
A cherished edible heirloom of my own is my grandmother’s (Florence’s) coconut cake that she loved baking up - and we all adored smothering lots of extra butter on it.
Thinking of her coconut cake takes me right back to being little and in her kitchen, then also as a teen where she would bake up a few, wrap them up and gift them to us. The most beautiful expression of love - not that I saw it then I guess, I just loved the cake!
We were featured many years ago now in Good Housekeeping magazine, celebrating this very recipe and the legacy it represents. The photoshoot day where she was pampered and dressed up has become a part of this story to me as she loved the day and how her make up looked. She was so proud to see her recipe in print and treasured the article, just like we treasured her and her recipe.

Food and family recipes connect us to the past, but they also carry forward into the future. We recently created a beautiful custom made pendant that celebrated our customers own grandma; Pearl and the love she created in her kitchen
Pearl’s love language was food. The Swedish phrase “Vas så god” which translates to “you’re welcome” was a saying that hung proudly in her kitchen. “The old world way of hospitality was one my grandma lived by; always ready to whip up a home cooked meal or start up a roaring fire in her hearth. “Nothing made grandma Pearl happier than when her family was snug and full of good food under her roof”
Her wonderful Swedish saying is a beautiful reminder for Lauren of her Grandmother and we were honoured to make her a treasured custom pendant with these very words traditionally hand engraved on. It was also befittingly star set with, of course; a pearl.
